A ideia de in(ou sub)verter o ponto de vista da imagem por meio do vídeo e do vidro que separa o exterior do interior de um espaço concebido, sob a lógica do capital, para expor “objetos” e apelar ao desejo e ao consumo. A montra.
Criar um jardim nesse terreno de intersecção, habitá-lo em presença e matéria orgânica — corpo, gênero, animal/vegetal — imagem fantasmática. Partilhar com o outrx (e não apenas o humano) a mediação animista dessa relação, em reflexo e simbiose, move a pesquisa deste trabalho.
Existir e desaparecer do outro lado do espelho, sob os afetos constantes da informação e do tráfego urbano. Refletir-se no outrx, e vice-versa.

The idea is to in(sub)vert the point of view of the image through video and the glass that separates the outside from the inside of a space conceived under the logic of capital — a space made to display “objects” and appeal to desire and consumption. The shop window.
To create a garden in this space of intersection, to inhabit it through presence and organic matter — body, gender, animal/plant — a ghostly image.To share with the other (and not only the human) the animist mediation of this relationship, in reflection and symbiosis, is what drives the research behind this work.
To exist and disappear on the other side of the mirror, under the constant affects of information and urban traffic. To see oneself in the other, and vice versa.

A recente crise sanitária global expôs a fragilidade dessa visão de mundo e evidenciou a urgência de reimaginar nossas formas de estar no mundo.
Vice-versa sugere uma virada — uma inversão, uma transformação — ao mesmo tempo em que mantém uma conexão entre interior e exterior, passado e presente, corpo, plantas e terra.

“The dichotomy between humans and nature has shaped Western thought for centuries, erasing alternative ways of perceiving the interrelations between beings on Earth. The recent global health crisis exposed the fragility of this worldview and underscored the urgency of reimagining our ways of being in the world. “Vice-versa suggests a shift—an inversion, a transformation—while maintaining a connection between inside and outside, past and present, body, plants, and earth.
"By choosing this title, Dárida Rodrigues highlights her experimentation with natural elements and concepts of animism, shamanism, magic, and enchantment. More than that, the project calls for the integration of non-hegemonic artistic, scientific, and political practices, fostering a collective intelligence capable of envisioning new worlds.
When we abandon the world to its current course, we leave it at the mercy of a destructive force. Reviving animism is a call for survival—a way to reconstruct meaning and life in the post-pandemic era.” (Cristiana Tejo, curator)
The video performance installation Vice-versa emerged as a response for the invitation to participate on the tenth edition of Finestra Sinistra, a project that connects critical discussions and artistic experiments from Nowhere Lisboa with the city.
